Research

The Center for Artificial Intelligence in Diagnostic Medicine (CAIDM) seeks to integrate the expertise of healthcare professionals, software engineers, data scientists, and other research professionals to develop novel tools for: (1) detection, (2) characterization, and (3) prognostication for a variety of conditions in an effort to improve patient care and clinical workflow. Our Center seeks to accomplish these goals through the development of deep learning, a subset of machine learning, artificial intelligence platforms.

CNS Projects

We are currently developing several AI algorithms capable of detecting, characterizing, and predicting disease in addition to identifying normal vs. abnormal anatomy of the head and neck.

Breast Projects

Breast cancer is the most incident cancer in women in the United States. We are working to developing faster and easier ways of aiding in detection of breast cancer on imaging and stratifying breast cancer risk through deep learning AI methods. We hope these tools will help better aid in better understanding of an individual’s unique cancer risk while enabling improved and faster detection of cancers on both breast MRI and mammography.

Genitourinary Projects

The genitourinary system plays several highly important roles in the body. Our Center is currently working on several projects centered on the genitourinary tract. We are developing deep learning AI methods for the automated detection of prostate lesions and kidney cancer, as a clinically efficient diagnostic tool.
